Honors/Gate
Honors level work is designed to provide academically advanced students with sophisticated and complex learning experiences in Language Arts and Social Science. Honors demands the highest level of participation, effort, and quality from students. The curriculum and material required for an honors designation is extended beyond the core subject matter and places additional emphasis on higher-level thinking and exploring aspects of the curriculum at greater depth and levels of complexity. Honors designation is available for qualified 7th and 8th grade students in English/Language Arts and Social Science. Any student who is recommended by a previous school/ (Language Arts/Social Science) instructor and is willing to complete Honors level work in Language Arts and/or Social Science at a satisfactory level can earn Honors credit. Advanced Math courses are also available to qualified seventh and eighth graders.
