Honors level work is designed to provide academically advanced students with sophisticated and complex learning experiences in Language Arts, Social Science, and Science. Honors demands the highest level of participation, effort, and quality from students. The curriculum and material required for an honors designation is extended beyond the core subject matter and places additional emphasis on higher-level thinking and exploring aspects of the curriculum at greater depth and levels of complexity.
Honors designation is available for qualified 7th and 8th grade students in English/Language Arts, Social Science, and Science. For our seventh graders, we are utilizing the 'Honors by Demonstration' model. This means any seventh grader willing to complete Honors level work at a satisfactory level can earn Honors credit in Language Arts, Social Science, or Science. Currently 'Honors by Demonstration' for eighth graders is available in Science and Social Science. Any eighth grader willing to complete Honors level work in Science and/or Social Science at a satisfactory level can earn Honors credit. Advanced Math courses are also available to qualified seventh and eighth graders.
In addition, Spanish I is a high school level class available to eighth grade students who qualify based upon prior performance and academic standing.
